Keys 2 the Kingdom

This session has been developed to enable groups to explore and examine the wide range of plant types found locally.
The aim is to determine characteristics and features which make each plant type distinctive. It will also be possible to demonstrate that particular plant species/groups can be recognised by creating these characteristics into a simple identification key.

The group will have the opportunity to:-
    * consider health and safety issues at the Centre and in the surrounding area

     * discuss the characteristics of plants (and animals) and determine the importance of these traits

     * explore the local habitats to find and examine some of the main plant groups which occur locally

      * compare and contrast plant material depending on seasonal availability

     * use a simple identification key to name a number of plants
