our projects
Much of what we do here at Wildside is funded through various grants. These allow us to work with various sectors of the community on particular projects that make a difference to the lives of local people and the environment in which we live. Here is a list of the project currently in place at Wildside.
nature's ambassadors
Funded by West Midlands Combined Authority
Wildside has recently been awarded funding to run a new project entitled Nature’s Ambassadors which offers FREE ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE to gain awareness of environmental issues and learn to live more sustainably.

Our fun, learning activities will focus on the broad themes of: Earth & Air / Water / Waste & Recycling
Each theme has been developed to extend classroom learning and support the key curriculum areas across all Key Stages.
A green, canal side oasis situated in the middle of the city, Wildside is accessible to Wolverhampton based schools and community groups that work with young people which would like to take advantage of its waterside and woodland learning environments without having to factor in the logistics (and cost!) of travelling miles from school or your community base.

Wellness to Wildness
Funded by National Lottery Community Fund
To widen the scope of those who engage with Wildside. At its core the project will provide 80 free sessions per year of health related activities that enable local families and those with additional needs to re-connect with nature. Elements of this project will help improve local green spaces with maintenance and habitat enhancement, while improving health through increased exercise and activity in the company of others. The project also seeks to establish stronger links with the local business community in order to develop longer term, sustainable income streams.

know your neighbourhood
Funded by Heart of England Trust
We were awarded some funding through the Heart of England, Know Your Neighbourhood programme to work with people who may feel isolated or may be at risk of risk of suffering from social isolation. The project runs a programme of activities to help build a sense of community with individuals and groups here in Whitmore Reans and more widely in Wolverhampton.

Water source heat pump
Funded by The Enovert Trust
In order to further its 'green ambitions' Wildside has developed and installed a carbon free source of energy production. The water source heat pump which uses the latent heat of the canal to fulfil Wildside's heating and hot water requirements also utilises solar panels which ensures the system is fully carbon neutral and sustainable. The bespoke installation was funded through a significant grant from the Enovert Trust.
We're sowing the seeds...
We're always working hard to develop partnerships with a range of grant makers and funders and future projects will be added as funding is secured.
